This privacy notice ("Notice") explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Columbia Sportswear Company and its global affiliates ("Columbia" or "we"). Unless we otherwise indicate, this Notice applies to all personal information collected by Columbia from any source, including information collected through our online services and activities, including this website (collectively, "Sites") and at retail locations. This Notice will not apply where we display or link to a different privacy notice.
1. Personal Information Collected
We collect information from you in various ways. We collect personal information you directly provide to us online, in our stores and through your other interactions with us (such as data collected via social media, and newletter and promotional programs in which you may participate). For example, we collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, demographics and other information you provide us or allow us to collect from you. We may also obtain information from other sources and combine that with information we collect from you.

When you visit our Sites, some information is automatically collected. For example, when you visit our Sites your computer's operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address, access times, browser type and language, and referring Web site addresses are logged automatically. We also collect information about your usage of and activity on our Sites and your use of the services that are included in our Sites and are available via your mobile phone.

Cookies: We may automatically collect information using "cookies." Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a web site. 3. Use of Personal Information We Collect
We use the personal information we collect for the purposes described in this Notice or as disclosed to you in other ways including on our Sites, in our stores or in connection with our services. For example, we may use your information to:

  • provide and deliver products and services;

  • send you information related to products and services, including confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;

  • upon your prior consent, communicate with you about new contests, promotions and rewards, upcoming events and other news about products and services offered by Columbia;

  • operate and improve our Sites and services;

  • process and deliver contest entries and rewards;

  • manage and administer our community features and member programs and services;

  • respond to your comments and questions and provide customer service;

  • conduct marketing analysis to allow us to assess trends and the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing campaigns and to help us understand your needs and provide you with better service; detect and prevent fraud; and

We will only process your personal information where we have a legal basis for doing so. 4. Sharing of Personal Information
Certain sections of our Sites are designed as open and public community areas for connecting and sharing with other people. When you sign up for or participate in these areas you will be asked to provide certain information about yourself that may be displayed publicly along with photos, stories, posts, and other information you choose to provide. We may also post or publish your information when you submit comments, stories, photos and videos in connection with surveys, contests or promotions offered on the Sites.

Columbia engages carefully selected third party service providers located worldwide who process your personal information for the purpose of providing technical support services to Columbia and who are bound to Columbia by data processing agreements as required by law, for example, to process credit cards and payments, shipping and deliveries, manage and service our data, distribute emails, research and analysis as well as administering certain services and features.

We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties except as follows:

  • in an aggregated or anonymized form that does not directly identify you; with your consent, for example, when you agree to our sharing your information with other third parties for their own marketing purposes subject to their separate privacy notices;

  • to (a) comply with laws or respond to lawful requests and legal process, (b) to protect the rights and property of Columbia, our agents, and others including to enforce our agreements, policies and terms of use or (c) in the good faith belief that disclosure is needed to respond to an emergency or protect the personal safety of any person; and

  • in connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
5. How Long We Retain Your Personal Information
Your personal information will be retained for the timeframe needed to fulfill the specific purpose for which it was collected, to comply with applicable legal requirements, and in accordance with our own records retention policies. Columbia uses appropriate physical, technical and administrative measures to protect your personal information in an effort to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.
7. Children's Personal Information
If you are under the age of 16, you are not allowed to use any of our Sites or services or create an account with us unless permitted by applicable law or where your parents / guardians have provided their consent.
8. Your Information Choices and Changes
We may communicate with you by post or by e-mail, SMS, MMS or other electronic means in accordance with your contact preferences and choices and this Notice.

You may opt out of receiving promotional material from Columbia at any time. A link to unsubscribe is included in each e-mail. If you choose to opt out of promotional emails, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as emails about your accounts or our ongoing business relations.

You may have the right under data protection law to request access to, or rectification or erasure of, the personal information Columbia holds about you. You may also have the right to restrict or object to certain types of processing of your personal information. Any request to exercise one of these rights will be assessed by Columbia on a case-by-case basis. To provide you with this website and the goods and services you order, your data may be transferred to Columbia Sportswear Company, its group companies, and it services providers, who may be located in countries (including the USA) other than your country of residence.
